Soldier Poem

All soldiers live in fear
Cold and hungry in the trenches
They go they fight they die
While their families sit and cry
Soldiers short and tall
Watch as their friends fall

They see the sunrise this morning
Tomorrow they will never know
From Morning to night they fight with all their might
The laughing and joking is gone
What are left are their dying groans
The rats crawling in the trenches at night
The men shiver with the gusts of wind
Their food is scarce
These men long for an embrace
The pain is infinite
Each of them feels their lives are insignificant
They pray every night

What else can they do, they know they will die?!
Hold their heads up high
And know their souls will never die
